Pearl Margaret Tobin Addington passed away on June 4, 2024, after a short illness. Pearl was born in Langford, SD to John Tobin and Pauline Hendershott Tobin on September 18, 1925.
After an early education in a one-room school near her family farm (to which she traveled on horseback with her siblings), Pearl attended Langford High School. Following graduation, she moved to Minneapolis, MN to complete her medical laboratory and x-ray technical training, before settling in Miles City, MT to work at Holy Rosary Hospital.
In April 1945 she was married to Donald Browning Addington and their family ultimately grew to include two sons. Pearl was active in the Methodist Church, frequently volunteered as an election worker, and engaged in countless craft projects with friends over the years. A voracious reader, she kept an extensive handwritten card catalog listing every book she read, complete with brief reviews. She enjoyed travel and visited many locations in the US and abroad. As one of many cousins raised near her South Dakota home, Pearl rarely missed the bi-annual family reunions they held in later years.
She was preceded in death by her brother James and is survived by her sister Christine of Sioux Falls, her sons Jeff (Lindsay) of Missoula and John of Helena, two grandchildren, Tobin (Libby) and Aislinn (Sean) all of Missoula, nieces and nephews, and two great grandchildren.
Per her wishes no funeral services will be held. Memorials should be made to a charity of your choice.
