Langford Area erased an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime but fell to Northwestern 69-67 in the extra period on Friday.
This week the Lions, now 3-10, host Britton-Hecla on Friday (JV boys 4 p.m., JV girls, varsity boys, varsity girls to follow) and Wilmot comes to town on Saturday (JV girls 1 p.m., JV boys, varsity girls, varsity boys to follow).
The Lions led 20-16 and 32-31 at the first two quarter breaks but were outscored 17-5 in the third stanza and trailed 48-37. But the LA squad roared back with a 23-point fourth period, including a Kassen Keough trey at the buzzer, to knot the game at 60-all at the end of regulation.
“Really proud of the Lions and how hard they fought against Northwestern,” said LA coach Brian Schuring. “We were down and could have easily gave in, however, this was a game that helped build some confidence. It was a tough loss that was a learning experience for the future.”
Keough had a huge game for the Lions with 40 points, connecting on 8-17 from three-point land, five rebounds, and four assists. Jacob Samson added 15 counters, and Conner Glines pulled down 12 boards and had four steals.
The Lions shot 46% from three-point range but just 31% on two-point shots for a 39% overall shooting percentage. LA was 10-12 from the charity stripe for 83%.
