The Britton-Hecla Lady Braves basketball team have had a busy schedule in the past week, dropping three contests to fall to 2-4 for the season.
The Lady Braves played at Wilmot last night Tuesday, travel to Langford Area on Friday and play at Waubay-Summit on Monday in a twin bill with the boys,
Redfield 58 B-H 40
B-H started off going toe to toe with their opponents and ended the first quarter down just 13-11, but the second quarter got out of hand as the Braves put up just nine points to the Pheasants’ 22 and trailed 35-20.
The local ladies never got back in the game in the second half as the deficit widened.
Coach Nelson pointed to the Pheasant’s second quarter scoring spurt as their big problem. “The defense just wasn’t there,” said Nelson.

The Lady Braves played a make-up game against Milbank Just like in the Redfield game, the girls kept it tight in the first quarter, down 13-9, but got behind after their opponent put up big numbers in the second quarter for a 34-12 halftime lead.
The Bulldogs kept it rolling after halftime and tacked on to their lead.
“Turnovers and poor shooting hurt us,” noted Coach Nelson. “We would cause turnovers and then didn’t score. They were also great shooters and we struggled at 23%.
“We have to put four quarters together,” emphasized Nelson.

In their final game during a busy week, the Lady (Continued on p9) Braves traveled to take on the Northwestern Wildcats.
Coach Nelson’s team struggled to find buckets throughout the game and were behind after the first quarter 15-8. The home team outscored the Braves in the second quarter 16-8 for a halftime score of 31-16.
The local ladies added only five points in the third, falling behind 42-21.
Nelson noted that the team is still struggling with the basics: shooting and passing. “Turnovers were again costly. And we just need more buckets.”
