Buckhorn holds 52nd Rodeo
For the 52nd year the Buckhorn Rodeo was held at the rodeo grounds east of Britton on Friday and Saturday.
A couple of area participants finished in the money. Heather Bosse of Cogswell, ND, won the barrel racing event in a field of 38 riders by a narrow two-hundredths of a second. Ryan Carlson and Luke Ronshaugen of Britton teamed up to take the fourth spot in team roping in a 12-team field.
Special events for kids and a couple of raffles were also held during the weekend.
Winners of kids’ events on Friday included Jace Paulson, Jr. Stick Horse; Emma Vrchota, Sr. Stick Horse; Rhyker Bender, Jr. Sack Race; and Gabby Taylor, Sr. Sack Race. On Saturday Maverick Gamber won the Jr. Stick Horse event; Milo Suther, Sr. Stick Horse; Rylee Carlson, Jr. Sack Race; and Jaks Gederos, Sr. Sack Race.
Junior bull riders winning their age divisions included Gracelyn Webb (12-13), and Cash Gamber and Coy Laurence tied in the 14-15 bracket on Friday. On Saturday Laurence again won the 14-15 event.
Gun raffle winners included Chad Eacher, Smith & Wessen 9mm; Mike Werdel, Glock 43; Chris Bernard, Anderson MFG; Mike Werdel, Winchester 20g; Stetson Stearns, Mossberg 12g; DuWayne Miller, Henry; and Bryce Krueger, Howa Snow King.
Jake Gederos of Faulkton was the fireworks raffle winner.
