Superintendent Storley Will Take Over LA Principal Job

The Langford Area Board of Education met for a special session last Thursday. As they had in their previous meeting, they discussed budget matters and a possible opt-out in light of new teacher pay mandates. “Many schools will be considering such opt outs to possibly raise additional revenue,” noted LA Superintendent Shad Storley. Ultimately, Storley noted that the board decided not to rush into anything and will study the matter more.
A major decision was made at that meeting, however, as the board considered the principal job. Mary Hosford had recently submitted her resignation as principal effective at the end of the year. The board decided that Storley will move to assume the position in addition to his duties as superintendent.
“We decided to combine the duties and see if it is manageable,” said Storley. “We will try it for one year. With our experienced staff, I believe that it will work well.”
Storley emphasized the need for long-term planning at all levels and careful consideration of budgets. In another voting matter, the group moved to suspend board pay and mileage from January 2024 to the end of the fiscal year.
