BRUCE SCHULTZ
BRUCE SCHULTZ
Bruce Allen Schultz was born February 26, 1962 in Britton, SD to Herluf and Joan (Rabenberg) Schultz. He grew up on the family farm, and spent the next 62 years there until the day of his passing. He attended his schooling in Britton and graduated from Britton High School. Following graduation he went to Lake Area Tech and studied agriculture. After college he moved back to work on the family farm alongside his father and Uncle Vernon. That same summer he lost his brother Paul in July 1982.
Farming and ranching was something Bruce was born into, but he truly made it his life’s work. He loved the land and the animals and was not shy of hard work. He took his knowledge from college and began planting corn, and because the farm was right along the highway, he was very particular that his lines run straight! In 2004 he started Schultz Cattle Company and continued as a well-respected and trusted cattleman.
He married Kerri Jones and was blessed with two children, Britiny and Cody. In 1995 he married Judi Churetta and was blessed with two children, Nathan and Jaden. The farm was important to him, but nothing meant more to him than his family. He showed his kids constant love and support, whether that was listening to their opinions while working or attending every one of their games or events. Bruce was a hardworking man and handled situations with ease. He instilled in his kids a good work ethic but also reminded them to have fun.
Bruce was a friend to many, with a welcoming smile and a laugh that could be heard across the room. He rarely missed a happy hour at Lake City Municipal or Club Eden. He was the grand marshal for the Lake City Parade for many years and looked forward to the celebration each summer. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting for deer and duck and the fun parties up on 6 mile hill at the shed. He was a member at First Lutheran Church in Britton. He was also involved with Britton Investment Club and a supervisor on the Hamilton Township Board.
Bruce passed away Friday, August 30, 2024 at Marshall County Healthcare Center, at the age of 62.
He is survived by his wife, Judi of Lake City; his children: Britiny Schultz of Webster, SD, Cody (Laura Kronbach) Schultz of Lake City, Nathan (Natasha) Schultz of Lake City, and Jaden Schultz of Lake City; his grandsons, Nolan and Miles Schultz; and his sisters, Sandra (Mike) Aasen and Karen (Mike) Santos.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Paul.
