MORRIS “MO” BLUMHARDT

MORRIS “MO” BLUMHARDT

The memorial service for Morris “Mo” Blumhardt was held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Olson Funeral Chapel in Britton, SD.

Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Morris Dean Blumhardt was born October 31, 1958, to Reinhold (Reinie) and Alice (Herrmann) Blumhardt, in Fargo ND. The family later moved to Amherst SD, where Mo attended elementary school, and later moved to Britton SD where he graduated high school in 1976.

In the early 1980s Mo enlisted in the United States Navy. He was stationed in San Diego, but also saw foreign countries while working in the Navy, and was active duty during Desert Storm, serving on the flight deck of the USS Ranger in the early 1990’s. After his discharge from the Navy, he moved to Wichita, KS, and worked for Metal Fab, Inc., managing the maintenance of production equipment, until June, 2023.

Mo’s life changed completely when he met Deborah Hughes. When they married on July 5, 2015, Mo inherited an entire family: wife, kids, grandchildren – the whole package! He became a husband, dad and grandpa all at once, and he loved it. And then his life changed again nearly five years later when Deb passed away on Feb 19, 2020. His daughters and grandchildren remained the central focus of his life.

Mo passed away Monday, November 25, 2024 at his home in Wichita, KS under the care of hospice. He was 66 years old.

Grateful for having shared his life are his three daughters: Lindsey (Robert) Taylor of Wichita, KS; Hillary Dillard of Wichita, KS, and Sierra Ayala of Redwood City, CA; his grandchildren: Cale and Heather Taylor, and Elijah and Elisabeth Dillard, of Wichita, KS; a brother, Dennis (Ann) Blumhardt of Shorewood IL; a brother, Douglas (Marilyn) Blumhardt, of Hermitage TN; a sister, Melody (Keith) Swearingen of Langford SD, and a sister-in-law, Linda Blumhardt of Fargo ND; 18 nieces and nephews and their families; and the very best friends a guy could ever have, Jimmy and Jill Martin and their family, of Wichita, KS.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Deborah; his parents; a brother, Curtis Blumhardt; a sister-in-law, Deborah (Douglas) Blumhardt; and a nephew, Benjamin Blumhardt.

Condolences may be directed to the family in care of Melody Swearingen – 104 Hickory St. – Langford, SD 57454.
