GLORIA GRACE SHELTON
Gloria Grace Krutsinger, daughter of Clark and Leone (Donaldson) Krutsinger was born October 10, 1937 on a farm near Britton, SD. She attended country school near Britton through the eighth grade, and then attended two years of high school at Britton.
Gloria was united in marriage to Dwayne Shelton on October 20, 1955 at Luverne, MN. Their first homes were on farms near Glover, ND and Straubville, ND, before moving to Hecla, SD, where Gloria was a stay-at-home mom and church volunteer. They lived in Lisbon from 1963 until 1966 when they moved to Brooklyn Park, MN because of Dwayne’s work. In 1972 they moved to Bismarck, ND, and became one-half owners of Western Farm Sales out of Oakes. It was while living in Bismarck that Gloria went back to school and earned her GED. In 1980, they moved to Oakes, where Dwayne worked out of the Oakes Western Farm Sales office and Gloria worked part time as their bookkeeper. Gloria has been an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and Altar Society, a member of the “Welcome Committtee”, greeter, parish council member, and she and Dwayne were caretakers of the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery for several years. Both Gloria and Dwayne helped with the Dickey County Historical Society and Historical Park. Dwayne passed away November 9, 2018.
Gloria is survived by her six children, Cheryl (John) Kurki, Fargo, ND, Mary (Dan) Welch, Bismarck, ND, Rebecca (Paul) Vicha, Shelton, WA, Kerry (Nancy Fix) Shelton, Fargo, ND, Deborah (Bill) Allen, New Boston, NH, and Brian (LeAnn Fix) Shelton, Lisbon, ND; two brothers, Allen (Sue) Krutsinger and Kevin Krutsinger; two sisters, Arletta McGregor, and Linda LaPorte.; eleven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Clark and Leone Krutsinger her husband Dwayne, three brothers, Clark “Buddy”, Claude and Dale, and three sisters, Mary Lou Brandt, Kathleen Schneiderman and Shirley Warwick.
Gloria was best known for her generosity, strong work ethic, compassion for others, her quick-witted sense of humor, her loving devotion to her husband Dwayne, family, God, church and community. Her caring and giving ways and ease of laughter always left an impression on others. She will be dearly missed!
A sharing of memories will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Oakes. Burial will be at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery near Oakes. Gloria’s service will be livestreamed on the Dahlstrom Funeral Home website www.dahlstromfuneralhome.
