MYRON G. STEINER
Visitation was held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2025 at the church, and concluded with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service.
Myron passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Coteau des Prairies Hospital in Sisseton, at the age of 93.
Myron was born onApril 24, 1931, to Louie and Hildegarde (Opitz) Steiner in Lake City, SD, the fifth child of ten and the youngest boy. Myron went to Lake City High School for one year and then enlisted in the army. While in the service, he earned his GED. Upon his return in 1955 he helped on the farm.
He was united in marriage to Belvia Fonder on June 13, 1956. Louie and Hilda moved to town in 1957, and Myron and Belvia took over the farming business. They raised cattle, pigs, chickens, and small grains. To this union ten children were born.
He served on various boards in his lifetime: Lake Township Board, Eden Elevator Board and Sacred Heart Church Council. He was a member of the Eden Lions Club and Sisseton Knights of Columbus, Britton Legion and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eden. After he “retired” he worked with LaVerne Storley for 11 years doing carpentry work. He then worked with Bob Kjorsvig remodeling the Roslyn Creamery where music was enjoyed by the community for several years. His love of woodworking and John Deere tractors was wellknown. In his later years he was proud of his 630 John Deere tractor.
Myron is survived by his wife of 68 years, Belvia; Wesley (Tammy) Steiner, Parker, SD; Theresa (Colin) Wold, Helena, MT; Terry (Reggie) Steiner, Lake City, SD; Gwen (Bill) Markham, Milton, WA; Cindy (Charlie) Denniston, Norwalk, IA; Nita (Lonnie) Aadland, Eden, SD; John (Chris) Steiner, Watertown, SD; Aaron Steiner, Watertown, SD; and Kristi (Kirk) Jones, Britton, SD; 28 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings: Daryl Steiner, Roslyn; Mildred McCauley, Eveleth, MN; Patty Johnson, Sisseton, SD; Hildie (Bob) Radtke, Ellendale, ND; Jan (Wayne) Johnson, Coon Rapids, MN and many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Kevin; sonin- law, Steven (Nita) Hanson and daughter-in-law, Susie (Aaron) Steiner, great-granddaughters, Hope Fevilien and Gabrielle De Hamer. Also preceding him in death are his parents, siblings Vernon and Kenneth Steiner; Kitty Thompson and Mary Lee Brock; and in-laws Erla Steiner; Marion Streier; Bob McCauley; Geraldine Steiner; Wayne Johnson; and Chuck Thompson.
