Barbara June Livingston was born on June 1, 1934, to Howard and Rachel (Wilkenson) Livingston. Barbara devoted her life to faith, family, and caregiving. On November 18, 1952, she married Leonard Tchida. Together they built a home with love, raising seven children and embracing countless friends and family. Barbara graduated from Britton High School in 1952 and began her journey in caregiving as a candy-striper at the Britton Hospital. This passion turned into a lifelong career as a nurse’s aide, serving hospitals in Britton, Sisseton, and Webster for over 50 years. She retired in 2005, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and dedication. She cherished family gatherings, fishing, and welcoming every new baby into the family. Her warmth and kindness touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Barbara is survived by her children: Ronald (Karen), Becky (Dwight), Leonard Jr. (Marie), Monica (Ron), Robert (Val), and Lindie (Adam), adopted daughter Brenda Hamann; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren. She also leaves behind her siblings: Richard (Cathi), Douglas (Sherry), Samuel (Colleen), and loving sister Judy; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; her parents, Howard and Rachel; her son, Bruce; her daughters, Lisa Ann and Ann Marie; her daughter-in-law, Karen; three infant granddaughters; as well as four brothers and two sisters.
Barbara’s legacy of love, kindness, and service lives on in those who knew her.
